Mizu no Maki
Dear Teacher,
last night I started to read "The Book of Five Rings" by Miyamoto Musashi and I found a very interesting step on what she keeps telling us a lesson: the empty mind.
It is located in Mizu-no-Maki, the Book of Water.
- Munen Musho no uchi to iu koto (The shot of the empty mind) -
"When you're both games simultaneously to strike the opponent, acting with the body and concentrates on pure action. The focus is accelerating the natural movement of arms and hit hard. This is the technique of munen-Mush, and it is very important to meet often. You have to learn and practice. "
A note attached to the end of chapter comments:
" Munen-Mush, literally no purpose and no idea. And 'the Buddhist concept of the empty mind, which is fully realized by exercising and then the concentration meditation (one has an object, the other not). This state information is fully open to the senses, rather it is a state of total attention and Musashi uses it to invite to be completely in the act. "
One of the poems that are attributed to Musashi, is strongly linked to the concept of empty mind, says : Under the sword
are rising but it's the fear of Hell
oltre, al di là
e troverai la Pura Terra.
Buona Domenica
